Author Q&A for Concealed Betrayal 4; My Saving Grace
- How does book number sixteen feel right now?
Dominique: If feels great! This book was supposed to be out in February. I pushed it back to focus on my 32nd birthday and to make sure it was released the right way. It felt rushed at the time.
- This is the last book in the series. How do you feel it all came together for the closer?
Dominique: I think it came together nicely. It wasn’t rushed. I made sure I answered a lot of questions from book three and throughout the series. I think I gave my readers the type of ending that will truly make them miss these characters.
- Concealed Betrayal 3 ended with a crazy cliffhanger. What can we expect concerning that?
Dominique: The continuation. Book four picks up right where book where book three left off and everyone is running to Harmony’s side to comfort her. I shed a few tears as I wrote this book. It doesn’t hit home but any type of death will affect anyone.
- What are you currently working on?
Dominique: I just finished the second book to the Scarlett Fry series. I’m excited about that one. I will be re-releasing two of my poetry books in the next few weeks and placing the Secrets and Deception series into one novel for paperback.
- You have a lot going on. How do you jump from one series and into the next so easily?
Dominique: I think, when it’s time to end a series, I don’t hesitate. My characters always let me know when they are done and a lot of times, before a series is finished, I already have something new in mind. So it’s easy to jump from one series to the next.
- What is the inspiration behind your Christian fiction novels? Will you be releasing anymore in the future?
Dominique: The inspiration behind the Christian fiction series is to inspire and open the eyes of those who read it. None of my stories relate to my life. But I see a lot going on around me. So I try to create stories I think my readers can relate to and understand. I do plan to release more in this genre in the future.
- What’s next for you as an author?
Dominique: I plan to re-release my poetry collection under Diamond M’Press Publications within the next few weeks. I plan to release the Secrets and Deception Series in paperback in June. Scarlett Fry’s new book drops in August. I have a standalone I’ve been itching to release and I will be starting a new series from a family based out of Florida sometime next year as well as another standalone.
- You are busy? How do you find time to work on PEN’Ashe and DMP?
Dominique: I have a schedule. Everything gets put into the schedule. PEN’Ashe releases an issue every two months. So that helps me stretch things out a bit. I just signed a new author to DMP, Ka’Shaun. She will be releasing her debut novel in May. I grind hard every day on everything.

- What advice do you have for authors/writers who are just starting out?
Dominique: Don’t let someone else’s no become your no. Learn every area of the business. Even if you have to pay someone to edit or do covers or format, learn how to do some things yourself and know the protocol and procedure of those things. This is your career. Even if you work a full time job, being an author is a career. Treat it as such. You will only earn what you put in so grind hard and work hard. Stay true to yourself.
